This Saturday, 13th December, I will start my second annual series of articles profiling Christmas stamps which will continue for twelve days, concluding on Christmas Eve. This year I briefly considered continuing the series until Epiphany (6 January) due to the many beautiful stamps worthy of inclusion but have decided that I’ll simply write about more than one country’s issues per day. I am including only stamps issued in 2014 so that has helped narrow it down a bit!
All of the stamp images this year have been obtained through online sources, most notably StampNews.com and The Philatelic Database. I don’t (yet!) own any of this year’s issues but a day on eBay should take care of that. Of course, if any of my far-flung readers of this blog would like to spread a little holiday cheer and send me a postcard or letter with a nice Christmas stamp affixed, I’d be very appreciative. My mailing address can be found below.
Regardless of your religious affiliation or the manner in which you celebrate (if at all) the Christmas season, I hope you will enjoy a look at the beautiful art created on these bits of paper we call postage stamps.
