While ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and A Christmas Carol are my favorite pieces of holiday prose, over the past couple of years I’ve found myself accumulating variations on “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. I even attempted to write my own philatelic rendition but gave up after just a few lines:
On the first day of Christmas,
My true love gave to me
A British Penny Black stamp.
On the second day of Christmas,
My true love gave to me
Two Baby Zeppelins and a British Penny Black stamp…
Last year, I tracked down a copy of Janice Santikarn’s wonderful version set in Thailand (sample below). Other favorites include the following teachers’ version and another that only Burqueños (residents of Albuquerque, New Mexico) will truly appreciate. What other variations have you found and enjoyed?
