Daily Phuket #36: 8 April 2021 – Thavorn Museum

Phuket Town is full of private local museums, many of which seem to have the same variety of dusty artifacts and photos of the Old Town and its people. The one inside of the Thavorn Hotel lobby on the west end of Ratsada Road is one which I’d always planned to visit but never did before the COVID-19 shutdowns shuttered it for good. I do not know if the accumulations of household and commercial objects inside are still there but the exterior sidewalk features a few large pieces of tin-mining machinery (some have been made into glass-topped tables) as well as two old horse-drawn carriages. There is also what appears to be a 1930’s-style limousine under a large sheet; one day, I will mustered the courage to uncover it for a quick photo. I highly doubt that the hotel or the museum will ever reopen.
