Daily Phuket #60: 5 July 2021 – Closed!

Or, Easy Come Easy Go….

As I was getting dressed for work this morning, I received the first of several phone calls about my new school. It has been closed due to a student testing positive for COVID-19. I was told that it was a student in one of the classes that I haven’t taught yet (last Thursday’s lesson was cancelled so they could clean the classrooms). Later, I was told to go to the school as the Provincial Health Authority would be sending a team to test the teachers. That is the image in today’s photo.

According to the news report this evening, a total of four schools in the area will remain closed until at least the 18th of July. I am happy that they are taking precautions; I plan to use the extra time to put together proper lesson plans and create some appropriate materials to use once the classes resume. Until the virus is completely gone, I expect this type of thing to continue occurring from time to time, preferably in schools that I don’t work at!
