I have always been interested in stamps from islands more than landlocked nations and those located in the Pacific have always been high on my collecting want list. In my new-found fascination with Christmas stamps I most enjoy those that portray the holiday traditions that I miss from the U.S. and Europe. However, sometimes a stamp catches my eye that pictures celebrations far removed from those that I associate with the season. A great example is this lovely issue from the Solomon Islands. Released in August 1983, I just love the image of Hula dancers under the Star of Bethlehem.
